Bug Description

Binary package hint: empathy

I'm on Ubuntu 10.10 64-bit with Empathy 2.32.1 (with ubuntu-restricted-extras, gstreamer plugins, etc) and I'm trying to start a video chat over xmpp with someone using the same software. The error message is "Can't establish video stream: There was a failure in the call engine". Under technical details I see the following, "Could not link source".

I have same issue. None of the attempted workarounds via disabling ffmpeg issue or upgrading good/bad plugins worked.

I can receive and establish audio calls from/to Gtalk using Empathy, but video fails in just the manner described.
11.04 (and 11.10), 64bit, latest updates.

Using a Debian xmpp server with openfire 3.7.1

Audioconference: empathy - openfire < - > googletalk - g+ (android)
  works fine

Videoconference: empathy - openfire < - > googletalk - g+ (android)
  Empathy reports the error "Could not add the new recv codec bin for ssrc 2720960829 and payload 97 to the state NULLCould not set the codec bin to the playing state".
