Seems to reset for each session restart for me. I can change the alias in Personal Information and the new alias will be used for rooms joined after that. If I close empathy and start it again, the alias is still there, but it's reseted again when I restart computer.

Oh, one more thing I noticed: after I restarted empathy all the rooms I auto-join have reseted alias and other rooms have the new one I set.

As it seems the problem occurs when I login to my jabber-account from another computer.

To reproduce the problem you need another PC/Laptop.

1. Login to your jabber/XMPP-account on your PC.
At this point your alias should be like you have set it.
2. Login to your jabber/XMPP-account from another PC/Laptop
If you now take a look at your alias it should have changed.

Confirmed. I can reproduce the issue for Empathy 2.32.1 on Ubuntu 10.10.
'apport-collect 674251' in your terminal doesn't work for me because it tells me I'm not the reporter of this issue.
