Bug Description
Binary package hint: empathy
A bothersome bug in Empathy, running Ubuntu 10.04 LTS Release Candidate, chatting with someone who's using vanilla Windows Live Messenger. Sometimes, with some messages, I get a notification from the indicator applet about receiving the message, but without the message appearing in the chat-window. Also, with very long messages, the messages don't arrive at all, and the sender gets notified that the message could not be delivered (these I can't even find in the debugging information, and thus that might be a totally unrelated problem).
Found the corresponding times in the debugging information. See attached 'debug.txt'
Some samples of the messages that didn't show up in the chat window:
23:56:15
23:58:07
23:58:09
00:04:24
Some messages received that were attributed to me (and not the sender) in the chatwindow, probably because of the preceeding attempts at sending the messages that didn't show up:
23:58:11
00:04:33

Thanks for taking time to report this bug and helping to make ubuntu better. Can you please change empathy theme to default and then check if you get the problem there are a few problems with the new theme we are using in Lucid so your problem might be related. Thanks again.
