Bug Description

Binary package hint: empathy

Empathy allows me to send files on facebook chat. I don't know if it's a illegal action. In all cases, my contact don't see the file and can't download it. My contact can speak to me with the chat of facebook page or with empathy, the problem is the same.

Facebook dont support file transfer. The reason that you are seeing able to send file is because empathy has not yet implemented facebook chat fully, when it does this option will be removed. Thanks

Changed in empathy (Ubuntu):
importance: Undecided → Low
status: New → Invalid

No, that's because Ubuntu uses telepathy-gabble 0.8.x which doesn't implement the ContactCapabilites interface. If you use telepathy-gabble 0.9.x the file transfer menu item won't be sensitive for contacts not supporting file transfer, including the Facebook ones.
