Bug Description

Binary package hint: empathy

makes it difficult to tell easily who is available.
Could be smaller and further in the bottom-left (the MSN icon is good) or could be over to the left of the avatar like in Pidgin.

For Facebook protocol, particularly on a long list of people, status is very difficult to distinguish under icon

MSN is somewhat better because the icon has a smaller area, but is still not great

fixed 16x16px icon, this may not even be needed as you can disable protocol icons which still leaves them enabled in the contact tooltip.

SWraith, Thanks for the icon. This bug is an upstream one and it would be quite helpful if somebody experiencing it could send the icon and the bug the to the people writing the software. You can learn more about how to do this for various upstreams at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME .
Once submitted upstream , do report back here with the upstream bug number. Thanks in advance!
