Bug Description

Binary package hint: empathy

In my Empathy (version 2.29.92-0ubuntu2 on Lucid), I have two contact groups which I once created myself I believe. However, I want to add another group. I cannot find a way to add such a group; I can only remove existing groups by right clicking on the name.
It is possible I missed something, but I guess the option is removed from this version. Could it be re-added?

right click on a contact, click edit and type something in the field before the button "add group" and you will be able to add a group. When adding a new contact you also have the option to add a new group so I think this is an invalid bug report

It took me a while to find the button, i think this is a bug, not the one that you don't have the "add group" button but that is hard to find the feature (usability issue).

I have sent this issue to upstream for knowledge of Gnome developers because is more like an usability problem, any way, @OmerAkram sent me the steps to do this:

"right click on a contact, click edit and type something in the field before the button "add group" and you will be able to add a group. When adding a new contact you also have the option to add a new group"

Indeed, I have found the option. Sorry for reporting a non-existent bug.
I agree the functionality could be more visible, so it's good the Gnome
developers are informed.

I have followed the instructions suggested - but once I have created the new group it doesn't show up in my Empathy contact list. Is anybody else getting the same problem?

Here, it works correcly. Do you add the contact to that group? I think
Empathy only shows non-empty groups.

I think its a bug, it's just way hard to add a new group, I'd like to see a entry just like pidgin, or a small button, but seriously right now is hard to add a group without adding a new contact to your list, so if you want re organize your buddy list is a pain. Thanks for all the feedback folks!.
