Bug Description

Binary package hint: empathy

I have Empathy installed on three of my computers and two at work.

I will try to explain what happens to the best of my ability.

1. Empathy is open on Computer A and logged in to MSN.
2. I open empathy on Computer B. Empathy logs me on for about 10 seconds.
3. Empathy on Computer A steals my MSN connection back and I get cut off on Computer B.
4. This continues over and over with Computer A and B both fighting to stay connected to MSN.

The way that pidgin addresses this is that it will stay disconnected until you click reconnect.

Changed in empathy (Ubuntu):
importance: Undecided → Low
summary: - Empathy constantly steals my connection when I am using it on multiple
- computers.

It is not an Empathy problem, when you have two clients trying to connect on different machine (or two different on the same one) you can't be connected with both at the same time. Jabber (XMPP) allows that, but not MSN, which only allows one connection per account at a time. Set status as "Invalid", because we can't have any action on msn servers.

Oh, in fact, we should "break the loop" at some time... Sorry, I misunderstood your problem. I will report this upstream. Reset as "New"

Nicolas, you shouldn't just assign bugs to yourself when your are not working on them. This bug is fixed upstream and can be closed when the "telepathy-mission-control" package reaches version 5.1.1 (currently 4.67). Thanks.

This is now fixed in karmic. The package "telepathy-mission-control" has been removed from karmic (bug #423677) and the new "telepathy-mission-control-5" has entered the repository (now version 5.2.2). Thanks for reporting.
