Unable to add skype account to empathy under unity

I am unable to add my skype account to empathy, since (afaik) online accounts is the only way to do so with empathy under unity.
while in gnome 3, skype appears under accounts in empathy and empathy is happy to use it.

There are a couple of methods suggested there to integrate Skype in Empathy. Sorry I haven't tried them so I don't know if they work.

Yes this way it works, however if i use the empathy gui an click on the accounts thingie the ubuntu online account overview opens and there is no skype option. So using the gui, there is no way to add a skype account. This is a ubuntu specific bug.

Skype is still not an option in online accounts of ubuntu and that is very sad.
There should be a package account-plugin-skype or something.
