description |
I tried to make a sip call and realised that my sip config has been lost (it was setup about a year ago on precise).
Anyway I installed accounts-plugin-sip and expected to be able to setup sip.
I open system settings -> online accounts -> click add -> choose SIP.
Then I am present with an ambitious screen with no obvious way to setup SIP.
Furthermore ekiga is also using the same accounts mechanism, so I was not able to use ekiga either. In the end I used skype credit to dial into conference room via PSTN.
I would have rather used my company's VoIP / SIP account instead to call internal extension.
See screenshot
ProblemType: Bug
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 13.04
Package: account-plugin-sip 3.6.4-0ubuntu3
ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.8.0-18.28-generic 3.8.6
Uname: Linux 3.8.0-18-generic x86_64
ApportVersion: 2.9.2-0ubuntu8
Architecture: amd64
Date: Wed Apr 17 20:51:20 2013
InstallationDate: Installed on 2012-01-12 (461 days ago)
InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 13.04 "Raring Ringtail" - Alpha amd64 (20130318)
MarkForUpload: True
SourcePackage: empathy
UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) |
Open system settings, click online accounts, click new, select sip.
Using stopwatch time the behaviour.
50 seconds later the form gets rendered to input sip details.
I have a 32GB of RAM and 8-core i7 cpu...... I have a reasonable expection for that form to render isntantly.
Clicking to go back to "all settings", reentering online-accounts, clicking new, sip, the form now renders instantly. |
