Bug Description

Using gnome-shell, I want to modify empathy accounts, so I click on "accounts" in empathy main menu, and nothing happens. However, if I go to the gnome-online-accounts settings and add an account, it sucessfully appears in Empathy. So I guess Empathy "accounts" main menu entry should simply display goa settings in the control center.

PS: I'm using ubuntu-gnome-desktop, so I don't use ubuntu-online-accounts.

@Bilal: Are you sure it's not using ubuntu-online-accounts (which comes with stock Ubuntu)? Make sure you've uninstalled mcp-account-manager-uoa when doing your test.

And about the video, it's there, definitely ("Video of me clicking on "accounts" and nothing happening. Edit (77.9 KiB, application/octet-stream)"). It's a webm file created using gnome-shell built-in screencast recorder.

Make sure you have gnome-control-center-signon installed.

as you said in comment #3 There's not much to show, really: I just click on "accounts" and nothing happens...
so now i have installed gnome and i can open the gnome-control-center and add a account there as the Oscar mentioned i have also intalled that package
i open it and i have got a google account adding page so i can not reproduce the bug..
so now
just tell me which mirror are you using for update ?
see that you have updates or not use the main server for updates.

@Oscar: no, the bug is about the fact that it doesn't work when gnome-control-center-signon is not installed. I don't use stock Ubuntu, I use ubuntu gnome so I don't want gnome-control-center-signon. gnome-control-center-signon is the configuration tool for Ubuntu-Online-Accounts not for Gnome-Online-Accounts (as you know those are 2 different things).

So, I confirm the bug: there is a way to configure Empathy accounts through Ubuntu-Online-Accounts, but there is no way to confirgure them when using Gnome-Online-Accounts.

@Bilal: When gnome-control-center-signon is installed, you can configure Ubuntu-Online-Accounts, but still not Gnome-Online-Accounts.

Empathy uses UOA for accounts configuration, not GOA. Empathy is capable of seeing accounts from GOA, but it will launch the UOA dialog. Not something we can easily solve.

This is a rather complicated situation, you can read a good explanation at http://jeremy.bicha.net/2012/10/06/ubuntu-online-accounts-and-gnome/

@Ken: OK, I understand the difficulty. This is still a bug though, and that's why I report it.
