Bug Description
It looks like emacs 24.3+1-2ubuntu1 is the only version affected (this means it affects Ubuntu 14.04 and 14.10).
Emacs fails to start in fullscreen mode, as can be seen in the Debian bug report: http://
The original Debian Mantainer recommends upgrading to 24.3.94 in stable distribution releases (as they have done in Debian Testing).
