Your VarLogDistupgradeTermlog.gz contains a good collection of warnings and error messages, but the apparent immediate cause for the failure is this:
> emacs-install: /usr/lib/emacsen-common/packages/install/ecb emacs23 emacs22 failed at /usr/lib/emacsen-common/emacs-install line 28, <TSORT> line 19.
> dpkg: error processing emacs23 (--configure):
