The problem is this:

install/vm: Byte-compiling for emacs21...rmdir: failed to remove `/usr/share/emacs21/site-lisp/vm': Directory not empty

There is a backup file present in that directory which should not exist:

ls -l /usr/share/emacs21/site-lisp/vm/
total 4
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 2347 2008-11-30 08:17 cus-load.el~

It looks like either somebody or some script didn't clean up properly.

Looks to me like the vm package install (on which vm-bonus-el depends) failed.

vm-bonus was removed in 35.11 so marking this as "Fix Released" (or should it be "Invalid" because it cannot be reproduced anymore?)

Changed in emacs-goodies-el (Ubuntu):
status: Confirmed → Fix Released
