Bug Description

Binary package hint: elementary-icon-theme

elementary-icon-theme monochrome is used in Lubuntu, but there are several default applications which lack support for monochrome icons, when it's displayed on the systray :
- aqualung
- gnome-mplayer
- osmo
- pidgin
- sylpheed
- transmission
- xchat
- xpad

IMO, xpad should be a symlink to the tomboy one, and maybe sylpheed a symlink to the evolution one.

Hey Julien,

I currently don't have a LXDE installation, so I can't really test. But do these applications support a monochrome tray icon? You'll notice that the monochrome icons in Ubuntu usually have "-panel" appended to the icon name. And if they don't, its because that icon only appears in the panel.

If you can supply icon names for me (instead of application names) I can do my best to get it fixed :)

Pidgin tray icons, I found the names already so I'll do those first :)

There is more informations about those icons :
- transmission seems to be fixed already in trunk
- aqualung and xchat have no support for theme icons, they need fixes upstream before adding those icons.
- gnome-mplayer and xpad use their name for icons, and set the tray icon by gtk_status_icon_new_from_icon_name. I'm not sure the size of the icon needed in the theme.
- osmo uses gtk_status_icon_set_from_stock to set the icon. Most important icon name is osmo-systray-normal, but it used others icons : osmo-systray-birthday, osmo-systray-note, osmo-systray-task, osmo-systray-menu-calendar, osmo-systray-menu-tasks, osmo-systray-menu-contacts, osmo-systray-menu-notes
- I don't know for sylpheed, the support is obscur when reading the code.

And except transmission, they don't have the support for "-panel" icons.

application icons for third party apps should be distributed with those apps.

From what I understand from the above comment, individual bug reports should be filed for each application that this is applicable to rather than blaming the icon theme itself. If this is still relevant, please file new bugs,
