ekiga hangs on start-up

Binary package hint: ekiga

Running latest feisty and ekiga 2.0.3-0ubuntu6, when I start it up it hangs. When killing it with -ABRT I get the following stack trace. I have ekiga-dbgsym installed, please advice what other debug packages would help.

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. I have been unable to reproduce using the same version of ekiga on a 64 bit system. Are you using a 64 bit or 32 bit system? Thanks in advance.

This bug looks like a duplicate of one of these upstream bugs. Could you look at them and see if you think one of them matches what's happening to you?

with the lastest feisty kernel ekiga stopped loading on one of my machine
starting it by terminal results only a hang terminal
on another machine instead no problems..
i-ve been not able to solve the problem even by deleting .gconf.

the error i get is this:
ekiga: error while loading shared libraries: libpt.so.1.10.3: cannot open
shared object file: No such file or directory
when using the ekiga 2.0.3 from ubuntu repo, when using the 2.0.9 packaged
on ekiga website it doesn't give any error message, just hangs there.
I tried to reinstall all the libpt packages but this didn't solve the
problem
i currently use XFS filesystem, and i am far from home, when i go back i
will format on ext3 and stick with that, i don't want those problems to be
caused by xfs.

but i don't have accessibility enabled at all.

i am going to reinstall as well
is a pity, since i have alot of customization done..
but i found alot of other problems with my current fresh install:
gnome-schedule doesn-t start with root privileges
update-manager shows the icon but doesnt start anymore
ekiga doesnt start
from time to time the system hangs nautilus

is pretty a mess...
since i also run a webserver on the same pc, i don-t know if i will stick with ubuntu or will go to another debian derivative...

Are you able to test if this problem occurs with ekiga in gutsy? The gutsy release contains a new ekiga which fixes a lot of problems.

... so now it has come through the pipeline and is working. Tricky upgrade though which doesn't seem possible with the gui at the moment. Upgrade works fine from the cli. Now Ekiga rocks again!
