Bug Description

Binary package hint: ekiga

1) Open ekiga
2) Close ekiga window (Ctrl+W or the X)
3) Show ekiga window

Expect window to come back where it left (snapped against my top panel).

What happens instead is that it is restored about 20-25 pixels lower & ~1-3 pixels to the right.

This happens every time the window is brought back up. Eventually ekiga is stuck at the bottom of the screen. Once it hits the bottom, it continues to move to the right slowly. Eventually it is in the bottom right corner.

It never goes below the top of my bottom panel, nor does it ever go off the right side of the screen. The entire window is always still visible.

Hi,

This fix should be Ubuntu Karmic (9.10), which release is due in october.

It needs to be tested...

Best regards

v3.2.5 is currently in Karmic Alpha 3, is that sufficient for testing
the fix for this bug?

Ekiga isn't installed by default. Had to add repos to install Ekiga, one
of the pt libraries wasn't in the default ones. :( I hope that will
change by the time it is released.

Anyways, it worked great.
I didn't add my accounts or anything, didn't think that would change its
behavior.

Minimize to Window List (still) worked fine.
Close to Notification Area worked fine.

In summary, this bug appears to be fixed in Karmic Alpha 3...great, now
I notice there is an Alpha 4 released - good thing too, there were 200MB
of updates for Alpha 3. I will test it on Alpha 4, and post back only if
it doesn't work.

Great job.

Hi,

Tank you for the test.

Do you have the name of this lib not in main?

Tested with Karmic Alpha 5. Ekiga is still not installed by default
(changed by Ubuntu?); however, all the dependencies (ekiga,
libdc1394-13, libgsm1, libopal3.6.4, libpt2.6.4, libpt2.6.4-plugins,
odbcinst1debian1, & unixodbc) were in karmic/main repositories. Window
placement is still correct, as it was in Alpha 3. This appears to be
fixed now. Thank you.

This was the ubuntu decision to remove Ekiga and Pidgin from the default installation in favor of empathy...
