Bug Description

Binary package hint: ekiga

Following a clean install of 9.4 x86_64 Desktop - T61 thinkpad:
Linux kokopelli 2.6.28-11-generic #42-Ubuntu SMP Fri Apr 17 01:58:03 UTC 2009 x86_64 GNU/Linux

I am unable to get ekiga to register with ekiga.net. I even created a new account. I had previously installed a standalone sip-ATA and ekiga worked under 8.10 with the ATA and the ATA is still working but ekiga will no longer registers with eikga.net. My firewall is a DD-WRT with NAT enabled, my network is COMCAST Business Class. Since ekiga no longer provides network configuration controls I xcan only assume that STUN is enabled and configured correctly.

As I say this was a fresh install and I configured ekiga with the user-name and password sent to me in the confirmation e-mail from ekiga.

HI

I am also facing a similar problem... I cannot register sip id at ekiga after upgrade from 8.10 to 9.04. I have three machines all having the same problem...

Its always giving a time out error. It used to work perfectly in 8.10

I just decided to try Ekiga for the first time today. While going through the initial setup, I followed a link to ekiga.net where I set up my account. I put this account name into Ekiga's configuration assistant, and every time I start Ekiga, it gives me the "Could not register sip:<user-name>@ekiga.net" bit. Also using 9.04.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Hi,

Is this bug still valid?

In case Ekiga cannot register to ekiga.net, please attach a debug output running this command:
$ ekiga -d 4 2>output.txt

Wait until Ekiga fails to register, close ekiga and attach the file here.

Best regards,
Yannick

Registering my username when Ekiga starts is no longer a problem for me. I don't want to speak for everyone, but from my experience, this can be closed.

Yannick,

I still cant register. Please find the attached output.txt

I am using a wireless router at home that is connected to the DSL router. I am not sure but is this a possible reason for this issue? I remember connecting to Ekiga in the same network configuration before i had upgraded to 9.04.

I have configured the router to forward the ports.

Thanks and Regards,
Arun

blackfalcon03,

Please, in Ekiga, go to Edit → Preferences → General Settings → Network and disable "Disable network detection". Restart Ekiga. Does it work? If not, please attach a new debug ouput with the new setting.

Best regards,
Yannick

Hi Yannick,

The output.txt was already generated with this setting... The option "Disable network detection" is not selected.
Do you want me to create a new log and sent it?

Thanks and Regards,
Arun

Hi,

There is something bad here: your preference setting is not respected. There is no trace of STUN inside the debug output.

I've no clue why. Pushing upstream to get more expertise.

Best regards,
Yannick

Hi,

This issue should be fixed in Ekiga 3.2.5 shipped with the actual Ubuntu Karmic (the incoming next release due in october 2009).

Could you test it? Maybe using a live CD?

Best regards,
Yannick

I don't mind contributing to the testing part if you can guide me through the procedures.

Just let me know what to do...

Hi,

You can find daily-build of live CD iso here:
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/

Do not install it as it is work in progress, just give it a try as a live CD. As it seems Ekiga is not on the CD any more you'll need to install it first.

Best regards,
Yannick
