This happened in Gutsy, ekiga 2.0.11-1ubuntu1. Audio test didn't work.

gnome-sound-recorder freezes too, when I try to record.

Maybe it is not ekiga bug since I don't seem to get recording work by any other application either. And since Ekiga does not crash, I can not debug crash.

Hi,

If ekiga freeze, you can lunch it using gdb and hit CTRL-C when it freeze. Then you could have a backtrace.

But it seems more an ALSA problem as you said.

Try this simple command in a terminal to check your ALSA configuration:

 $ arecord -D plughw:0,0 -c 1 -r 8000 -f S16_LE - | aplay -D plughw:0,0 -c 1 -r 8000 -f S16_LE -

It is an echo test using only basic ALSA tools (arecord and aplay).

aplay: main:545: audio open error: Device or resource busy
