Bug Description

Binary package hint: ekiga

--version: GNOME ekiga 2.0.3
apt-show-versions: ekiga/feisty uptodate 2.0.3-0ubuntu8
OS: Ubuntu Feisty 7.07 i386 desktop
Hardware Platform: 32 bit Intel Core 2 Duo, Dell XPS M1710 notebook. I have both wired and wireless devices active on same network.

When starting ekiga, the configuration wizard appears and then disappears almost immediately. When run from the command line with the Ekiga debug option, it appears that the last thing that happens before the segfault is that it tries to enable Avahi services.

With Avahi turned off, Ekiga starts successfully.

Steps to reproduce:
1) With Avahi enabled, start Ekiga.
2) Observe failure

Actual behaviour:
1) Ekiga's first time configuration wizard starts.
2) Ekiga closes immediately.

Expected Behaviour:
1) Ekiga's first time wizard starts
2) User enters configuration information

It's possible that this problem is a duplicate of https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ekiga/+bug/105766 but I'm not expert enough to tell. They seem to end in the same place.

This fault also occurs when Ekiga and the first time config wizard have been run successfully with Avahi disabled and you quit Ekiga, enable Avahi and start Ekiga again so that the first time wizard doesn't run.

Are you able to test if this problem occurs with ekiga in gutsy? The gutsy release contains a new ekiga which fixes a lot of problems.

Sadly I don't have a machine available to run Gutsy available at the moment, but it seems that this bug is in hand anyway.

As a side point, this bug was reported after experiencing it on my laptop, however my desktop has Feisty and exactly the same Ekiga version installed and with Avahi enabled, this crash doesn't occur. So I guess the problem is elsewhere. Desktop is single core AMD Athlon XP on Via mainboard while the other is as above.
