too slow on an eeepc with 2.7.7

Binary package hint: egoboo

I tried to play the latest build of Egoboo but it is unplayable. You can't even navigate the menus because it is too slow to respond correctly to the mouse input.

I believe this Mandriva report is related:

The reporter of that bug claims that a graphical performance bug was introduced between 2.7.4 and 2.7.7.

oh Christ. its a shame it is still not fixed i.e. not compiled. as a mere user i just want to play this game!

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better.

This issue is still present in Ubuntu 12.04. However, as seen in the Debian bug report this is fixed in version 1:2.8.1-1 which is avaiable in the latest development version of Ubuntu - Quantal Quetzal.

I am amazed to receive the e-mail progress notification on this bug.

Two years have passed. I have switched from Ubuntu to Xubuntu after Gnome3 disaster. I got my EEE PC stolen. And finally I switched to Arch Linux and have played egoboo there.

But still I am glad to see the progress even though I no longer care.
