GLIBC update breaks Folding@Home

Bug Description

Description: Ubuntu lucid (development branch)
Release: 10.04

when attempting to start Folding@Home 6.24r3 SMP it halts with the following error:

relocation error: /lib/libnss_files.so.2: symbol __rawmemchr, version GLIBC_2.2.5 not defined in file libc.so.6 with link time reference

I marked it as an eglibc bug, but it may be actually be a bug in folding@home.

A script fixing the issue for some users was reported by an user on the above thread as follows:

I will not direct link to the patch as it is not my work, but reading it might give some insight. Also, it did not work for me.
