adding noauto anywhere and doing step 3 was not necessary.
I did install using LVM, not encrypting the whole disk, but encrypting home (and consequently encrypting swap), so I used /dev/mapper/mythbuntu--vg-swap_1 instead of /dev/sdaX in step 2. (It is shown in the output of "sudo fdisk -l".)
