Bug Description

After some time using the system, the hd access get really slow. I found the following error on dmesg:

[101970.983830] ecryptfs_decrypt_page: Error attempting to read lower page; rc = [-4]
[101970.983834] ecryptfs_readpage: Error decrypting page; rc = [-4]

The only workaround I found is to logout and login again, so maybe it is related to ecryptfs.

Using kubuntu 14.04, chromium-browser, skype, owncloud, konsole.

Hello - thanks for reporting this issue. Unfortunately, there's not enough information here to allow the eCryptfs developers to investigate this issue. We all use eCryptfs daily and have not experienced what you're describing.

The messages in the syslog are harmless. They indicate that a process received a signal while performing read(). That's normal and applications have always been expected to handle that situation. eCryptfs should not be logging to syslog in this case.

Please reopen the bug if you can provide more information about how to trigger the slow storage access. Thanks!
