Bug Description

I've upgraded to Ubuntu Precise Pangolin 12.04. Although ubuntu-mono has been introduced before 12.04 release, I don't know why Eclipse has just used it in 12.04. I found that ubuntu-mono bold font doesn't have the same width as the normal one. Usually, mono-like fonts have a homogeneous width whatever the font-style. However, it is only happen in Eclipse. I attach the comparison with Geany.

as a workaround, this font can be used: Bitstream Vera Sans Mono

I just want to add that it is probably independent of the editor. I came across this bug report because as of 12.04 I have the problem in geany with misaligned sources due to the font (monospace, which looks just like in the eclipse side of the screenshot).

Trying other mono spaced fonts it seems that there are more fonts affected:
monospace
Droid Sans Mono
Andale Mono

The ones that are working for me in Geany are:
DejaVu Sans Mono
FreeMono
Liberation Mono
Nimbus Mono L
Ubuntu Mono

And taking a closer look at the screenshot the 2 fonts are different. You can see that the L in public is different.
The font used by Eclipse is "Monospace" and the one used by Geany is "Ubuntu Mono".
