It happened to me, tried with Sun Java 6, and it ahppened also with that. The solution for me was to remove the xulrunner 1.9.3, installed from the Mozilla Daily PPA to run Firefox 3.7. Try removing that package and see if eclipse still crashes after that.

XULRunner 1.9.3 is causing this then, so let's hope that after it becomes official it won't happen. If it gets in the official repositories and renders eclipse unusable, that'll be a major problem.

Yes. Maybe the problem wasn't XULRunner 1.9.3 itself but the fact to
have both the 1.9.2 and 1.9.3 versions running together. In fact the
same problem happens running together XULRunner 1.9.1 and 1.9.2. I can't
try to run only the 1.9.3 version because the 1.9.2 has a lot of
dependencies but I think that it will also fix the problem.

choosing the right xulrunner is an eclipse problem

affects: openjdk-6 (Ubuntu) → eclipse (Ubuntu)
