Same problem here - frequent crashes with Eclipse 3.3.2 and Sun JDK 1.6.0_06. No crashes with JDK 1.5.0_15.

Adding

  -XX:CompileCommand=exclude,org/eclipse/core/internal/dtree/DataTreeNode,forwardDeltaWith

to eclipse.ini as suggested by Tony McCrary seems to fix the problem with JDK 1.6. (Thanks Tony!)
