I have separated partitions, one with Gutsy and other with Feisty.

In Feisty, eclipse doesn't crash in the same situations that it does in Gutsy.
But I've noticed, that the version in Gutsy is the same than in Feisty: 3.2.2-0ubuntu3

Maybe a Java bug?

This is what I get when I used Eclipse 3.2.2 from eclipse.org and JDK 1.6.

I can confirm the same problem. It seems to happen regardless to java vm version. It also seemes to happen when i move the mouse over the file tabs.

Maybe the bug is outside java and eclipse?

I'm getting this as well. Here's the error log dump. On another note, notice that the log says OS:lenny/sid at the bottom even though I'm running Ubuntu Gutsy.

I can confirm the problem (using sun 1.6.0 jdk).
Eclipse is quite unusable on Gusty for me, it will crash within the first minute of use.

Also note that running Eclipse 3.3 Europa downloaded from eclipse.org seems much more stable. I couldn't make it crash until now, after about one hour of use.
I didn't try 3.2 from eclipse.org, so I can't tell if 3.3 fixes a bug or the problem is in the Ubuntu package.

I am getting this fairly often as well. I attached the error report output from the latest crash.

I am not 100% sure but I believe this has something todo with gtk's new tooltip implemetation (if you switch beween tabs eclipse diplays tooltips, and this fails sometimes). Do you still have these crashes?
