Eclipse Freezes, Causes Hard System Freeze

Bug Description

During routine use on Ubuntu 12.04 64-bit, Eclipse Indigo (version in repos) intermittently will freeze and become unresponsive (Window is grayed-out, CPU maxed out). Occasionally this causes the entire system to freeze (no input accepted, images on screen frozen). The only way to recover from this freeze is to hold the power button down for a hard reset.

The problem is intermittent- repeating the same sequence of actions which led to a freeze cannot produce another freeze.

Same here with 12.10. I guess it's because memory is only 2GB , might be too small for eclipse

Same problem for me with :
Ubuntu 12.04 64 bits
Eclipse Juno 4.2.2
Samasung Notebook 900X with 8Go Ram + SSD 110Go

What kind of file should I look for after a crash to investigate this major problem for me ?

When the entire system hangs and you have to hard reset, I don't think Eclipse gets a chance to leave a crash dump.

It's not clear what the bug is/was. I can no longer reproduce with Eclipse Kepler in Ubuntu 14.04.
