Bug Description

Subclipse will not work, it displays a dialog saying "Subversion native library not available" and "Error: Incompatible JavaHL library loaded. Subversion 1.7.x required."

The only subversion version available in Ubuntu 14.04 is 1.8.8 (r1568071) (on my system)

It works after manually installing eclipse-subclipse 1.10.3 and libsvnclientadapter-java 1.10.3 from Ubuntu 14.10

Thanks for taking your time to report this issue and help making Ubuntu better.

I get the same error message when starting Eclipse after having installed eclipse-subclipse.

I wonder whether it would be possible to bring the two packages you mention into 14.04 in order to fix this.

Changed in eclipse-subclipse (Ubuntu):

Rikard Nordin's method did not work for me: eclipse did not believe it had subclipse installed. However when I followed the instructions at http://subclipse.tigris.org/servlets/ProjectProcess?pageID=p4wYuA I was able to use Eclipse's 'install new software...' option to install subclipse version 1.10 and now everything is working. (Installed software from http://subclipse.tigris.org/update_1.10.x)

After this, I also needed to 'upgrade' all my existing projects to work with the updated subversion: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/7992034/svn-upgrade-working-copy
"from eclipse, you can select on the project, right click->team->upgrade"
