Binary package hint: ecl
Programs linked to libecl.so fail to find this library.
Reproduceable, Ubuntu 8.04

Unable to reproduce success, but I think this worked on atleast one computer:
The solution did not work on atleast one computer.
x Create /etc/ld.so.conf/ecl with the line "/usr/lib/ecl" in it.
x Run sudo ldconfig

The problem is that libecl.so is not a shared library, in the common accepted sense. There are talks (ie. http:// bugs.debian. org/cgi- bin/bugreport. cgi?bug= 486376) to make it so and this may happen for jaunty.
So, for the time being (in hardy and intrepid), it really must be in the path of the executable.
