Bug Description

Binary package hint: eagle

Description of why ubuntu changes are dropped:
I have adopted the packaged, and accepted all ubuntu changes

Why sync with unstable:
Since it is non-free, it will not migrate to testing normally until a DD uploads both i386 and am64 (which no one has done yet).

builds in pbuilder in karmic, and lucid. I installed the Lucid package, it works properly. This also will fix:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/475891
however, the bug will still exist in karmic.

Also, this is almost entirely a sync with debian (they accepted our changes). The only remaining change is:
ia32-libs [amd64] is moved from Depends to "Build-Depends," and I sent that change upstream here:
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=521746

Hi,

As we are syncing from testing for Lucid, can you please explain why we should merge eagle from unstable? Is it better to sync the unstable package or fix it (some bugs reported in Debian are quite ugly)?

Thanks,
Fabrice

Thanks Fabrice,

Why unstable:-
1) New version is only available in unstable (this new version has
been out from upstream for over a year and a half).
2) A build dependency problem is preventing it from moving to testing.
3) I synced from unstable to get the new version and fixed the build issue.

I've been in contact with the Debian maintainer, and he is going to
upload the fixes I have in this package to Debian unstable, which will
migrate into testing - and we can just sync from there. I'm also
thinking of adopting the package in Debian, it's RFA-ed.

We're now just waiting for Debian to upload the fix so it can migrate
to testing, but it has been two weeks without an upload.

If you want to hold off and wait for the upload, migration, and then
sync - that could make sense too. What do you think? If I was doing
the upload, I'd hold off a bit longer to see if Debian uploads it.

Hi Scott,

I also prefer to wait a bit: no rush at that moment in the cycle.

Thanks,
Fabrice

Hi Scott,

It's perhaps sync time, after your latest upload in Debian. What do you think?

Hi Fabrice:

Yes we can sync, but I also uploaded 5.7.0 to m.d.n [1] and am trying
to find a DD to upload. If you're a DD, could we upload first, then
sync with unstable? Since it's non-free, it won't migrate to testing
until both i386 and amd64 are uploaded, so the most efficient way of
getting the new version is to upload 5.7.0 then sync to that in
unstable.

LP already has a bug report requesting it: bug #511074
