Unable to open stream (Oneiric) [Unable to create io-slave]

I am running a fresh install of Kubuntu Oneiric 64bit
While dvbcut is able to start up, it has errors while opening a stream.

This is what is prompted out when starting dvbcut in a terminal:

EXPECT TO HAPPEN:
dvbcut opens video-stream

WHAT HAPPENED INSTEAD
dvbcut shows the first picture of the videostream, but nothing else. There is no chance to do any edits as the window seems to be frozen.
