Interesting… that usually means that duplicity crashed on us or had some other odd error when we asked it for its version.

But when you do it on the terminal, it’s fine…

Are you using the standard Ubuntu distro version of deja Dup (vs flatpak or snap releases?)

Thank you for your bug report. Sorry but it's a bit unclear from the report what the problem is? 2.1.4 seems the be the right version (https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/duplicity/2.1.4-3ubuntu2)?

Changed in duplicity (Ubuntu):

importance: Undecided → Low

I think this is a report against Deja Dup - that string is an error message we give if 'duplicity --version' doesn't actually give us a parsable version string.

@Teh Kok How, could you provide a bit more details on where you see that error and how you trigger it?

Triggered by the scheduled backup. Initially `duplicity --version` hits the same error in the terminal due to some missing python package. Install that missing package to resove the error seen in the terminal. However, I have no clue why Deja Dup was removed from my system at all!?!
