2013-01-29 16:06:14 Andrea Corbellini description The package dracut cannot be installed on Ubuntu 12.10 as it conflicts with the initramfs-tools package. Due to the conflict, the package dracut can never be installed as initramfs-tools cannot be removed. In an answer to my question regarding this problem on askUbuntu [1] the answer was, that dracut and initramfs-tools should both depend on linux-initramfs-tools (which is a virtual package provided by both initramfs-tools and dracut). [1] http://askubuntu.com/questions/248970/how-to-install-dracut-on-ubuntu-12-10 I just checked on another installation and dracut is installing fine on Ubuntu 12.04.1. For this reason, the package dracut can never be installed. Either dracut should not Conflict with initramfs-tools (like it did on 12.04) or all the packages that Depend on initramfs-tools should be modified to Depend on the virtual linix-initramfs-tools.
