I might've already reported this, but I've been getting this error message when I try to access anything flash related. I'm on Ubuntu Ultimate Edition 2.4 (based off of Karmic)

This looks to me more like something that's seriously wrong with your system rather than a problem with the package:

The postinst script for that particular package should be just a regular shell script. That sounds like disk corruption or some similar problem which is making the postinst script look like a corrupt binary.
