I think that giving more of a warning about these Upgrade problems would be a great kindness to average users. Even more so a kindness to the Microsoft refugees who chose Ubuntu because it was supposed to be easy to use and "Just Work" without writing up a lot of custom scripts. If the only dependable upgrade is a complete re-installation from a DVD, then please tell us so.
Please don't prank thousands of people with that "Upgrade" button on a popup menu.
