Bug Description
I pack files with dpkg-deb --build as a normal user. The problem is the files owner in the deb package is my normal user not the root. It would be nice if dpkg-deb --build can change the ownership in the package.
I found discoussion about that, and it seems there is a patch which fix that issue, but I don't see any --root-owner or --owner= option for dpkg-deb.

Hi,
I have run into similar problem, and I found this work around helpful for me.
fakeroot dpkg-deb --build ...
This will package the files with ownership set to root/root.
