Bug Description
this bug is reported for debian: http://
and fixed, but the version of dphys-swapfile that comes for ubuntu 10.04 still has it.
steps to reproduce:
sudo apt-get install dphys-swapfile
(on system with ubuntu 10.04 and kernel 2.6.32 x86_64 )
I find this bug severe because a normal user can't do anything against it. The script executes right away rendering the machine useless because everything hangs waiting for the massive io operation to finish. If you try to reboot the script will execute again.
making it nearly impossible to login on a different tty because login might timeout because the drive is busy. Also if you forgot your root password you can't enter the recovery console. Only solution for me was to boot via live cd, mount the hardrive and set the swapsize manually in /sbin/dphys-
