Bug Description

Binary package hint: dokuwiki

DokuWiki should serve from http://yourhost/dokuwiki after install but config files only allow access from localhost.
My fix was to make /usr/share/dokuwiki recursively owned by www-data.www-data and modifying /etc/dokuwiki/apache.conf by commenting out the line "allow from 127.0.0.1" and adding "allow from all". Restarted Apache and it works as it should. I'm requesting this to be fixed so that Apache will give access to /dokuwiki to everyone by default, or at least add a line in the package description about this issue.

Thanks for taking time to report bug in Ubuntu.
This particular setting looks quite safe to me. Right after the installation, you have time to configure your wiki before opening it to the wild world.
When dokuwiki is configured, you only have to change the "allow from 127.0.0.1" to "allow from all" to open it.

Changed in dokuwiki:
importance: Undecided → Wishlist
status: New → Won't Fix

That is the problem.
1. There is not even a hint about what you have to edit/do to get it working
2. You don't get to configure DokuWiki as you do with a new source install,
it is already configured upon install of the package.

My proposition is to add something like:

"You need to edit <some file> and replace <allow from X> with "allow from
all" after you configure DokuWiki using the http://localhost/ address"

to the package description or the configuration curses app that appears when
you install DokuWiki (that app is debconf if I'm not mistaken, I don't want
to seem right when I could be wrong).

Either someone helps the users or not.
