Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read "How to report bugs effectively" http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures

At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

This bug is being closed because there is not enough information for the developers to resolve this issue. Simply knowing the application did not open for you does not allow them to begin to find out why it did not work. In the future, please avoid this lack of information as much as possible by using apport to file the bug, as explained in https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs.

Normally, ubuntu-bug dogtail would give us several log files that might tell why this is not in the menu for you. I installed dogtail in Xubuntu 9.10, using the command "sudo apt-get install python-dogtail". It did install two menu entries for me in Applications -> Development, AT-SPI Browser and Dogtail Script Recorder.
AT-SPI Browser is using the executable file "dogtail-sniff".

Running 'apt-cache policy python-dogtail' in a terminal shows me:

charlie@number26:~$ apt-cache policy python-dogtail
python-dogtail:
  Installed: 0.6.1-3ubuntu3
  Candidate: 0.6.1-3ubuntu3
  Version table:
 *** 0.6.1-3ubuntu3 0
        500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com karmic/universe Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

Which tells that dogtail is installed. Do you get the same ?

Since this bug has enough information provided for a developer to begin work, I'm going to mark it as confirmed and let them handle it from here. Thanks for taking the time to make Ubuntu better!
