Bug Description
systemctl suspend
AND
systemctl hibernate
are both dysfunctional and buggy. After wake-up, Ubuntu is broken.
systemctl suspend: after wake-up screen is mostly black, but occasionally
flashing on/off, and briefly displaying some text.
systemctl hibernate: after wake-up the bash is dead (the terminal which was
running under gnome and which was used to issue the hibernate command.
Other windows are dead too, but there seems to be an additional gnome login
terminal (on tty2 as well as tty1)!
It happens with secure boot disabled as well as enabled, in the case of
suspend command. Hibernate is unavailable if secure boot is enabled.
It happens with or without official CUDA/Nvidia 11.8 toolkit installed.
System: Brand new HP Victus 15 fa0088ca laptop, Intel CPU, Nvidia RTX 3050.
Ubuntu 22.04, all updates installed.
Closing the laptop lid and opening it has the exact same effect as
systemctl suspend/resume.
Note: ability to suspend/hibernate without a complete shutdown is very
important.
Thank you.
