This can be worked around by installing docker-compose-plugin as on https://docs.docker.com/compose/install/ and using `docker compose` instead of `docker-compose`

(which I'm aware basically evades this package)

Status changed to 'Confirmed' because the bug affects multiple users.

Changed in docker-compose (Ubuntu):
status: New → Confirmed

I think this is actually a bug in python3-compose and is related to a incompatibility of one of the packages. https://github.com/docker/docker-py/issues/3113 is the issue upstream.
