package doc-base 0.9.5ubuntu2 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 139

Just did a clean install of Ubuntu 11.04 on Virtual Box, with a Windows xp host, but using the update manager to install updates it says " failed to install package, check internet connection," though I'm totally connected to the internet. Very frustrating. Got the ubuntu iso from a bit torrent.
