screen and graphics settings not saving

screen and graphics changes are working but not saving. I have a dell precision m70 with 1900*1200 resolution. This is in hardy beta. i used envyng to install the nvidia as it was not installed by default. ref bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-restricted-modules-2.6.24/+bug/205676

the resolution every time i log in is lower than the max resolution. i then have to change it and all is fine. it never saves.
