Bug Description
Setup: Belinea 10 19 20 19" LCD Display + Leadtek GeForce 6600 (nvidia properitary driver) @ Ubuntu 8,04 alpha with latest updates
1. The LCD is not detected properly (displayconfig setup defaults to generic) - maximum available resolution is too high, thus I need to change it manually to get a usable desktop.
2. After setting the LCD model in displayconfig and choosing the proper resolution and refresh values for the LCD, after the next logout those settings are being ignored and the maximum values for resolution/refresh rate are used.

almost ditto; on Alienware 5620D Pentium 4 ATI Radeon RV250 [Mobility FireGL 9000]. The resolution was incorrectly detected as mirrored output, assigned an incorrect value, and did not list the correct resolution option in the Screen Resolution dialog box. Once mirrored output was turned off, and the laptop display was manually selected in the layout screen, the correct resolution options were given.
