Bug Description

Gutsy menu option to configure screen and graphics does not list NEC Multisynce LCD 1545v though it lists many other NEC ones. Even though it detects the monitor when I run dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg, it reverts to generic default monitor under screen and graphics menu option.

"generic default monitor" is the name written by debconf (dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg) into your xorg.conf.

Are your resolutions not detected correctly? Actually the list of monitors is for monitors that have got a broken edid (the monitor can report its possible settings to the os) and so cannot be detected automatically.

Cheers

Yes, my resolution is limited to 1024 by 7?? and is correct, but refresh
rate is maxed out at 54 HZ when it should be 75hz. I have GEForce 6800
video card. Other boxes with same gutsy build are also kvm'd to same
monitor but show refresh of 75 hz on older video cards.

You are running displayconfig-gtk in a virtualized Gusty (KVM)?

no, much simpler. 7 boxes (3Gutsy & 4 DSL) connected to 1 NEC (and I
keyboard and mouse) through Keyboard Video Mouse switch.
