Bug Description

Binary package hint: dia

I have a CIFS (ie samba) mounted filesystem.
The mounted filesystem is owned by root; all users have write permission.
It is mounted with
sudo mount -t cifs -o username=mmoren,password=xxx //192.168.0.5/romark ~tim/romark

I can save files from gedit or openoffice or inkscape.
However, when trying to save a file from dia I get this error:
Internal error -1 writing file /home/tim/romark/tim/__dia1JH1CU
and the file does not save.

Dia 0.96.1

I too am affected by this. Dia 0.96.1, Ubuntu 9.04. It's virtually a deal-breaker on using Dia, because I don't like saving content locally.

I wonder if Dia is trying to change file permissions or the like and gets upset when it can't on a CIFS mount.

Tim Richardson, this is not reproducible on a Trusty client, saving/opening from a Trusty samba server.
