Bug Description

/etc/dbus-1/system.d/dhcdbd.conf has all references to "com.redhat.dhcp". While I am not certain what SHOULD be there or if it is something that should be updated at install or by the user. I do know that this is true on multiple installations of ubuntu 7.10 that I have looked at. This includes systems that were installed from CD as well as systems installed as an older version and updated to 7.10 via the Update Manager.

In addition, the messages log on all of these systems contains lines like:

Jan 18 18:54:35 lapdog2 dhcdbd: Started up.
Jan 18 18:55:10 lapdog2 dhcdbd: message_handler: message handler not found under /com/redhat/dhcp/eth1 for sub-path eth1.dbus.get.reason
Jan 18 18:55:17 lapdog2 dhcdbd: message_handler: message handler not found under /com/redhat/dhcp/eth1 for sub-path eth1.dbus.get.domain_name
Jan 18 18:55:17 lapdog2 dhcdbd: message_handler: message handler not found under /com/redhat/dhcp/eth1 for sub-path eth1.dbus.get.nis_domain
Jan 18 18:55:17 lapdog2 dhcdbd: message_handler: message handler not found under /com/redhat/dhcp/eth1 for sub-path eth1.dbus.get.nis_servers

which may be related or may indicate another problem since the referenced location in the file system does not exist.

To the best of my knowledge the only ill effects are the time spent detecting and reporting the errors, pollution of the error logs, and confusion caused to troubleshooters costing them time.

I have noticed this too. Im having some wifi issues so checked the logs to see what was wrong and all i could find was this. So im assuming its pointing to an error message generator or somthing similar so now i have no clue why my wifi is borked. Quite infuriating a workaround or a translation for what these errors mean would be quite helpfull.

"/usr/share/dbus-1/services".
I have no such a derectory.So I delete the line"<servicedir>/usr/share/dbus-1/services</servicedir>" in "/etc/dbus-1/system.d/dhcdbd.conf".
