Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

This has been a problem since Jaunty, however was not an issue in Intrepid.

The battery estimated time is way off being close to accurate, 20% = 20hours!!!!!!. It doesn't even display a time until 20%.

See screenshot for proof.

Same here on a Eee PC 900 (Celeron-M) and 10.04. After logging in the battery indicator says there's only 1.9% left but the indicator itself shows the battery is full. Then the indicator reflects the drainage of the battery until it's about at 55-60%, then it suddenly drops to 20% (red indicator). I never actually saw it make the sudden drop but it always happens suddenly but at about the same interval (after an hour or so). It then stays at 20% for at least one hour, then it drops to 10% and after 30 minutes it's all over and done with.

After plugging it into the socket I noticed when starting up the BIOS asks for the time again. No relation with the Ubuntu battery indicator I guess but I thought I'd just mention it.
