Bug Description

Binary package hint: devicekit-disks

Update 007-2ubuntu6 on 2010/303/31(GMT+11:00) caused USB sticks and USB card reader to fail to be recognised and mounted.

This on an up-to-date Ubuntu 9.10.

Downgrade to 007-2-ubuntu4 restored functionallity.

Will investigate further given more time.

Same thing here, though I do not have devicekit-disks. Occurs after the latest update for Lucid today. Manually mounting the usb drive works fine.

Same thing here but with DVD/RW. Binary package devicekit-disks suspected.

Update 007-2ubuntu6 on 2010/303/31(GMT+11:00) caused ASUS DRW-2014L1T to fail to be recognised and mounted. Downgrading to previous version solves problem.

Same thing here on 3 pc's.

After suspecting it had to do with a recent update, we tried on a non-updated machine before and after updating.
Synaptic can only downgrade to 007-2-ubuntu6. Tried that on one pc, that did not solve the problem.
manual mounting works.

Problem is with udisks (previously devicekits-disks). It will *not* automount a fat or vfat parttion as RW. This messes with samba shares and the ability to copy pictures from a camera CFcard and erase it. Please fix this. It should mount fat/vfat as rw for all users, not just root.
